Mallorca Bicycle Rescue FAQ’s
CAN A POLICY BE USED BY MORE THAN ONE PERSON?
No it cannot. ID will have to be produced if there is any doubt. Please remember that when you purchase your policy you have to state the bike you wish to have covered, this prevents a group buying just one policy and using it to cover anyone who breaks down. 1 cover = 1 person + 1 bike.
IS MY RENTAL BIKE COVERED?
Yes, we treat all bikes as if you are the owner, rented and borrowed ones included. We are responsible for getting you and the bicycle you chose to be covered to either your accommodation or to the nearest bike shop that is open and offers repairs, whichever is nearer.
HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT TO WAIT?
Our aim is to get to you as quickly as possible, and on average this is between 30 and 40 minutes. Obviously if you are in an out of the way place or if we are experiencing a higher than normal number of call outs we may take slightly longer than normal. The most time consuming place to get to is at the Port of Sa Calobra.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER PURCHASING MY COVER?
Store the control room number on the mobile phone that you will have with you during your stay here in Mallorca.
CAN I CANCEL MY COVER?
Yes, as long as the cover has not started, you will receive a full refund.
ARE THE REPAIR COSTS OF MY BICYCLE COVERED?!!
No. We collect you at the breakdown site and transport you to either your accommodation or to the nearest bicycle repair facility or your bike rental outlet whichever you choose.
WILL YOU RECOVER ME IF I HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT?
Yes, we will recover your bicycle and you if you are unable to continue your journey, although if you need medical care please call an ambulance, as we are not able to render medical assistance.
HOW FAR MUST I BE FROM A BICYCLE SHOP OR MY HOTEL TO USE MY COVER?
At least 1 km from where you are staying and 1 km from an open bike repair facility.
WHERE ON THE ISLAND WILL YOU RECOVER ME FROM?
Anywhere on Mallorca. Island wide.
WHERE WILL YOU RECOVER ME TO?
Either to the nearest bicycle repair facility or to where you’re staying, or to where you hired your bike, your choice.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I CLAIM ON MY COVER?
Once per policy, per week per issue. Therefore with a 3 and 7 day policy, we will rescue you once for the same issue; with a 14 day policy, twice, and with a 28 day policy, 4 times with the same issue. This is to ensure that you get the issue fixed so you will not need us on a daily basis!
With different issues there is theoretically no limit although if we feel the policy is being abused, we reserve the right to cancel and refund for the unused portion.
IS THERE A NO CLAIMS DISCOUNT?
No, our prices are so low already that we have no built in margin to offer discounts.
WHICH ARE THE DIFFERENT LENGTHS OF COVER THAT YOU OFFER?
3 day. 4 day. 5 day. 6 day. 7 day. 10 day. 14 day. 28 day.
WILL YOU REPAIR MY BICYCLE AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD?
Normally, we will not. We will either take you to a bicycle repair facility or return you to your accommodation or to where you hired your bike from, whichever you choose.
CAN I PURCHASE YOUR SERVICE THE SAME DAY AS USING IT?
No, cover must be purchased more than 12 hours before using it. We are a bicycle rescue and recovery service, not a taxi service!
DOES ONE POLICY COVER ALL MY BICYCLES?
The policy covers you and the bicycle you purchased the cover for. This is to protect us against the scenario where only one person in a group purchases cover and takes “ownership” of the damaged bicycle. If you wish to ride a different bike each day, just email us with the details of the bike you are going to be using the next day.
WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED TO PURCHASE THE COVER?
Name; contact details; place of accommodation on the island; start date of cover; your bicycle details.
CAN I CHANGE THE DETAILS OF MY COVER?
Yes, just email us the day before with the required changes. If you wish to cancel your policy, as long as the start date has not begun you will receive a full refund.
WILL YOU RESCUE ME FROM AN OFF ROAD LOCATION?
No, you must be on a road which a normal, non 4x4 can travel safely.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE TAKE A LONGER THAN NORMAL TIME TO FETCH YOU?
If we take more than 1 hour to rescue you, we will refund the cost of your policy and still recover you to your place of accommodation or to a bicycle repair centre, or to your bike rental outlet whichever you choose.
WILL YOU FETCH ME AT NIGHT?
Ideally no, our operating times are between sunrise and one hour after sunset. But, we will not leave you stranded!
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM JUST TIRED AND WANT A LIFT?
Unfortunately our service is for when you cannot continue your journey do to mechanical failure; your body breaking down or a spill that does not require an ambulance – it is not for tired riders! Have a rest, eat and drink something, engage a low gear and pedal slowly via a shorter route in order to continue your journey.
IS MY NON STANDARD BIKE COVERED?
Unfortunately not at this time. Our vehicles are only equipped to transport standard bicycles. We are working on adding cover for non standard bicycles such as tandems; hand bikes; electric bikes; recumbents etc – but at the moment we are unable to help you.
DO YOU PROVIDE COVER LONGER THAN 28 DAYS?
Yes we do, please contact us for a quote on your needs.
We are not equipped or qualified to deal with medical emergencies, if you need medical attention, please call an ambulance, not us. We will rescue your bike that never fits in the ambulance as well as your riding partner if necessary.
